One of the core themes of the Defend project has been advocating for Gender Equality.
The project from its start was built with equality and diversity in mind. The scientific work plans were reviewed for unconscious biases, careful consideration was given to candidates during their recruitment and activities promoting women in science were planned within the lifecycle of the project.
Following on from this, we are pleased to announce that the Defend project has now compiled and implemented a Gender Equality Action Plan.
The plan reviews the work undertaken by the project, gives a formal process for review, and highlights any areas for improvement. It provides realistic targets and goals for the project with specific time frames and we believe that this strengthens gender equality as a core theme within Defend.
